Catechism Family Fued (A Review)

You'll need: An Overhead projector, "Survey Says!" Transperencies, 2 teams, a host.

Set-up. It will help if someone with some memory of the original show can consult on the set-up. The overhead projector/screen serves as the "board" upon which answers appear. Transparencies with the answers on them are prepared before hand. Each answer is covered with a strip of paper so that it is not visible on the screen. Only when a right answer is given, is the paper lifted so that the answer becomes visible on the screen.

The game begins with one team attempting to identify the items in a given category. The host may introduce each category by saying, "We surveyed 100 members of our studio audience and asked them, 'Which of the 10 Commandments is easiest to break?'" Team members keep answering until they either (a) get all the answers in a category or (b) miss a third time with an attempted answer. When an answer is offered, the host (and everybody else) may say, "Survey Says!" Here, if the answer matches any of those which are on the transparency, the paper cover is lifted, and the answer appears on the screen. When a right answer appears, the host (and everyone else) may say, "Bing! Right Answer." When an answer without a match is given, the host (and everyone else) may make a buzzer sound and say, "Not There!"

When one team, after three misses, cannot get all the answers in a category, the other team gets a chance to "steal." The other team will then have a chance to discuss which answer may still be available, before offering the answer to the host. If the answer is right, the stealing team gets the category. If not, no team gets the category.

An adult should be the host. Team members are recurited from among students and adult leaders.
