Remembrance of Baptism

based on the Flood Prayer, the Small Catechism, and Romans 6.

Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Group: Amen.

Leader: In the Beginning, the Spirit of God moved over the waters;

Group: In the waters of Baptism, the Spirit of God moved over us.

Leader: Through water, God saved Noah and his family;

Group: Through water and the Word, God saves each of us.

Leader: In the waters of the Jordan, our Lord received the Holy Spirit;

Group: In the water of Baptism, the Holy Spirit has been given to us.

Leader: In Baptism we are buried with Christ in death;

Group: In Baptism we also walk in the new life.

Leader: In Baptism our old selves are drowned through daily repentance;

Group: In Baptism our new selves are raised in Christ-like righteousness.

Leader: Sealed with the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever;

Group: Let us now go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

All: Amen.

As students leave, they may do so via the baptismal font, where they may receive the sign of the cross marked with water.
