Remembrance of Baptism
based on the Flood Prayer, the Small Catechism, and Romans 6.
Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Group: Amen.
Leader: In the Beginning, the Spirit of God moved over the waters;
Group: In the waters of Baptism, the Spirit of God moved over us.
Leader: Through water, God saved Noah and his family;
Group: Through water and the Word, God saves each of us.
Leader: In the waters of the Jordan, our Lord received the Holy Spirit;
Group: In the water of Baptism, the Holy Spirit has been given to us.
Leader: In Baptism we are buried with Christ in death;
Group: In Baptism we also walk in the new life.
Leader: In Baptism our old selves are drowned through daily repentance;
Group: In Baptism our new selves are raised in Christ-like righteousness.
Leader: Sealed with the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever;
Group: Let us now go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
All: Amen.
